1969 Ford Mustang
The Ford Mustang was restyled for 1969; 3.8 inches longer and 140 lbs heavier. It was
available in 5 models: Mach 1, Convertible, Grande Hartop Coupe, Boss 302, and Boss 429. The 1969
Mach 1 body style debuted with a standard 351 cid V8 and the 428 Cobra Jet option. The 428
Cobra Jet option was available in 3 states of tuning; Non-Ram Air, Ram-Air w/Shaker Hood Scoop,
and Super Cobra Jet with Drag Pack Option. The Super Cobra Jet 428 had the shaker hood scoop,
a modified crankshaft, and stronger connecting rods (Built to Run 1/4 Times).
The Boss Mustangs were built to qualify the 429 V8 for
NASCAR racing. The Boss 429 package came with a race ready 429 cid V8 with ram air,
aluminum high riser, and header type exhaust manifolds.
